4. Emily Mangum:
“Unfinished learning:”
Understanding definitions about quarantine challenges; gap (decrease) in test scores were expected following a loss of face to face learning time in the spring.
Reading Horizons has been purchased and will be administered; it’s online support via Chromebook to help master skill sets
Reading specialist will work with the reading groups (two more aids have been hired making the total 7) to read and expand the skill set.
5. Dibels Test Results and Definitions:
Red: intensive, most intervention
Yellow: strategic intervention
Green: on grade level, still supported
Blue: performing above (once a child is at blue, 95% stay fluent); extension projects are assigned via groups: IE: book club; comprehension is focused
Kindergarten:
While the decrease in scores was expected, reading groups will continue to be a priority in this age group
First Grade:
Lowest students are receiving extra care to see that handwriting, letter formation, reading fluency and phonics are improved
Second Grade:
Similar to first grade; aides are also in class to assist with learning
Third Grade:
Six children receiving intense instruction and additional children are in reading groups. This grade had the greatest loss during quarantine. The previous group of third graders tested exceptionally high, making results appear more dramatic. Modified reading groups are still held in this age group. Specific students will be aided as necessary.
Summary:
Reading intervention has a set aside time; there is no lost learning in other areas.
Statistical drop was the greatest in the first grade; but Lomond View still tested higher than the state average.
6. Last Year’s Trustland Goals:
See site.
Math: SLO (student learning outcomes) test: measured three times per year. This data is used for Trust Land Plan; benchmark and growth strategy
Reading: 70% proficient
Tech: 25% increase in typing ability; Lomond View seems to be one of the few elementary schools spending the time necessary. Second Grade is when these classes begin
7. Last Year’s TSSA Goals
Similar to Trustland;
This fund paid for and allowed the hiring of a mental health specialist: Kenyata Green, who is in the school for one full day a week and by appointment.
Panorama, a Social/emotional/learning (SEL) tool has been purchased and will be implemented along with Mr. Green’s efforts.
