Letter from Principal Skeen

Dear Parents,

We are off to a great start to our 2018-19 school year. This fall we have many exciting and fun activities planned that our PTA is helping with from HOPE week, Safety Week, reflections and of course our Fun Run on September 14th. We are so excited about the PTA Fun Run. It is going to be awesome!

Reminder, if you haven’t signed district/school policies and procedures for the year we need this done ASAP. The computer usage for any district computer or chromebook is included. Go to myweber.wsd.net and sign into your child’s portal account. Once you are logged in please check demographic information and click on register student. ALL students need to do this each year.

Each month during the school year we will have a safety drill. Within the next month we are coordinating a reunification drill which will involve checking out your students early from school. It is so important to practice this procedure so if we ever have to release students early for an emergency reason everyone knows the routine. We will get a date set and send out more information regarding our reunification drill.

There are simple ways to help give back to our school. Some of those include enrolling in Smith’s Inspiring Donations. Simply go to SmithsFoodandDrug.com/inspire and select Lomond View Elementary or you can enter the code GU737. Once you are enrolled when you go grocery shopping a percentage comes directly back to our school. Lee’s market also offers a rewards program. Go to https://leesmarketplace.com/ click rewards, sign in, click the nonprofits tab and select Lomond View Elementary. Last but not least send in your boxtops to the main office. These are all simple things you can do when you go grocery shopping that really make a huge difference by bringing money back to your child’s school.

We appreciate your ongoing support. We really enjoy working with you and your students each day. This is going to be a great year!

Sincerely,

Justin Skeen

Safety During Drop off and Pick up

 transportmap

Here are some basic policies at the school:

1. Don’t park in the red zones. If you need to come into the school for any reason during drop off or pick up times, please use the parking lot to the north of the school.

2. If you are picking up your student after school, pull to the curb and turn off your engine. I learned recently that our children are more susceptible to toxins from idling cars because they take in more air per minute than adults do. Let’s keep them healthy by turning off the cars (AND TRUCKS) while waiting for them to come out.

3. If coming from the north, use the parking lot to pick up.

4. If coming from the south use the church parking lot, 900 W. and the front turn around to pick up children.

5. Don’t block the pull through lane in front of the school waiting for students, it is meant to be used for cars that are pulling through.

If you would like to be more involved, join the PTA. We are excited for next year and we need your help! Please contact Lacey Empey if you are interested: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Info about e-books

Here are some ways for you to access the e-books for your summer enjoyment.
When you login in on the district's website, your student must have his or her student log-in information which is the same one they use at school.

Download the free Overdrive app.

Download books from Lomond View's library

View the books on the "Follett Shelf"
You can search the catalog for any book that has a small green 'e' by the title of the book.

*6th graders: beginning July 1 you will be switched over to the secondary library and can access secondary ebooks at that time.
If you have any questions regarding e-books please feel free to visit with Mrs. Miller.

The PTA Bylaws have been posted in the office. If there are any concerns please let us know by e-mailing us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

*Please remember there is no parking on 900 W. in front of the school (red zones) during drop off and pick up hours. If you need to drop off your students between 8:15 and 8:30- you may use the upper parking lot (on the North).
