Letter from the Principal

This week we reached the midpoint of the school year. We have had a great first semester of the year. Our teachers are working hard collaborating with each other and meeting weekly to look at student progress and growth to help guide their instruction. Students will take mid-year assessments this month that will help look at their progress. Student data helps us make any necessary adjustments to our instruction.

This is a great time to set goals and aspirations for the year. Setting and accomplishing goals is a great thing for students to learn at a young age. We challenge students to set an academic goal or two on something they would like to accomplish the last two quarters of the year. When students have success with setting a goal and accomplishing it they are more likely to continue doing it. We believe in dreaming big which requires lots of small successes along the way. Setting and achieving SMART goals is a great place to start. Is the goal Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Timely? Don’t forget to have students write it down and keep it somewhere where they see it frequently.

We have a Parent Teacher Conference coming up on February 7-9. This is a great time to look at your child’s progress and celebrate their strengths and discuss areas they can improve. By the end of next week we will send out information on how to schedule an appointment for your student(s). We really look forward to meeting with you. I want to wish each of you a great 2018!

Sincerely,

 Mr. Skeen

6th Grade Fundraiser

Lomond View Parents and Friends,

We would like to offer everyone an awesome opportunity to support a good cause while celebrating your student with us. Lomond View 6th grade is putting on a fundraiser this year to help purchase more math and science manipulatives. You can help support us while celebrating your student(s). For our fundraiser you can submit images of your student to be displayed on the TV by the front office for $3 for one week or $5 for two weeks. It is now ready and open for business!

If you would like to celebrate your student(s):

Select and prepare your images.
Landscape orientation is preferred
Jpeg format required
Select an individual image or create a photo collage of multiple images
Please make sure all images are school appropriate
Once prepared, send them in an email as an attached file. Include the following in your email:
Image attached
Date of desired week(s) to be displayed. (weeks start on Monday)
This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
Once your email has been received you will receive an email with instructions on how to submit your payment.
Bring your payment into the office PRIOR to your student’s picture being displayed
Cost: $3 for one week or $5 for two weeks for one image
This would be an awesome way for your students to shine during their birthday, as they win a soccer tournament, as they accomplish a goal, or after a family trip. Remember all collages have to be put together and emailed as a single jpeg file. This is a great chance to highlight your student while supporting a great cause!

Thanks in advance for your support,

Safety During Drop off and Pick up

 transportmap

Here are some basic policies at the school:

1. Don’t park in the red zones. If you need to come into the school for any reason during drop off or pick up times, please use the parking lot to the north of the school.

2. If you are picking up your student after school, pull to the curb and turn off your engine. I learned recently that our children are more susceptible to toxins from idling cars because they take in more air per minute than adults do. Let’s keep them healthy by turning off the cars (AND TRUCKS) while waiting for them to come out.

3. If coming from the north, use the parking lot to pick up.

4. If coming from the south use the church parking lot, 900 W. and the front turn around to pick up children.

5. Don’t block the pull through lane in front of the school waiting for students, it is meant to be used for cars that are pulling through.

If you would like to be more involved, join the PTA. We are excited for next year and we need your help! Please contact Lacey Empey if you are interested: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
